Energy

Ruzizi III is a 206 MW run-of-river hydropower project located on the Ruzizi River, on the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, in the Great Lakes region, downstream from Ruzizi I (30 MW) and Ruzizi II (44 MW). The plant is expected to supply 1,153 GWh of renewable energy to Rwanda, Burundi and the DRC by 2027, thereby increasing energy supply at a competitive rate, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting economic growth in all three countries. The consortium consisting of Fichtner - the lead partner - ISL and Nodalis is currently supporting EGL, the governments and the national electricity companies of the three countries in the development of the IPP project, up to the financial closing. Nodalis is providing legal, financial and economic support for the approval of the technical option (site selection), for the monitoring and control of the EPC recruitment process and for the implementation of the financial package of the project. The consortium will then provide support during the construction phase and the operation phase.
